I Have To Say, Today Was a Good Day

February 09, 2010 By: Halemom Category: Baby!, Contests, Events, Miscellaneous, Opinion, Tooting Tuesdays

I can’t believe what a great day I’ve had today; I didn’t have a chance to make a post earlier, but I’m glad I didn’t because I have so much to share!  From milestones to awesome news, today was full of happiness.

My baby girl makes my day so bright, and even though she gets brought to the bed in the middle of the night so that I can have some rest, it’s always so awesome to have a cute little face wake me up in the morning, trying to give me kisses.  Now that’s the good stuff in life.

We wake up, have breakfast, play, take a nap, clean, and all that good stuff, then daddy comes home for lunch and then we have to take him back to work and go run errands.  While I was out on the town, I get an email and I immediately respond.  As a result of this email, I’m headed to Mom 2.0 in Houston!  YAY!  It’s funny because I was just wishing yesterday how it would be awesome if I could attend just one of the many blogger conferences after reading someone’s blog about attending Blissdom.  Now, I’m not absolutely certain about how everything will go, but I will keep you in the know, for sure!  (Even if you don’t get to go, you will be able to experience the conference from my perspective.) There are so many exciting speakers, I can hardly wait for next weekend.

Anyway, we got our errands done, so I head back home to do some more cleaning and playing and in the mix of the playing, baby girl takes FOUR steps by herself!  In all the excitement of moving and getting settled in to our new place, and everything in between, I forgot to announce her first steps, but it only occurred about three days ago, and was momentous because both mommy and daddy got to witness those cute little steps.  She amazes me everyday, and I love watching her get braver each day to take another step and then dive for mommy.

After we play, clean and baby takes another nap, we head to pick up dad, then come back home to make dinner.   Daddy is excited that we’re headed to Houston (because that’s where most of his family at,)  and we get home to work on dinner and relaxing.  Baby plays some more, we eat, some more playing, and then reading and getting ready for bed.

Whew!  Baby is in bed, now time to gather my thoughts, and figure out what to write about today.  First, I check my email, and to my surprise I get an email from one of my friends telling me I’ve won a contest!   You remember, the contest that I entered last week, I actually won it!  I can still hardly believe it!  I’m so excited, I feel like I’m dreaming.

As you can see, I have to say, today was a good day!

Let me know if you’re going to Mom 2.0, so we can have a chance to meet.  If you don’t have a ticket yet, I’d jump on board soon!  I Look forward to meeting you!

Toot Your Own Horn Tuesday

December 22, 2009 By: Halemom Category: Food, Miscellaneous, Pictures, Tooting Tuesdays

Yep, it’s another Tuesday.  What have you done c lately, or this passed week that has made you especially proud of yourself?  Maybe just something you did you’d like to get some recognition for.

My toot for this week has to do with my Mother-in-Law’s birthday that happened to be today.  Happy Birthday, Ganny!

IMG_1090Being her 60th birthday, she decided it would be proper to hunt down 60 YELLOW long stem roses.  Well, not being an easy feat, since there aren’t many florists that carry too many roses of a specific color, due to them dying and wilting if they are not consumed quickly.

On our way to a late birthday lunch, we come a cross a florist, that I had never seen before and found a great deal on dozen roses.  A way better deal than can be found at most retail stores, and in the color we needed.  Granted, they didn’t have all 5 dozen, but they came pretty close.

We decided that we would start her on her first dozen.  She was so excited and we all had a wonderful meal at a local Vietnamese restaurant.

Also, in other toots for the day, my daughter has decided in the last few days that she is ready to stand on her own (without hands) and can now do it for roughly 15 seconds.  To show of to her grandparents today, she also decided she could not only stand on her own, but that she could accomplish the balancing act and even turn around to look at her ganny.

I’ve also been trying to get my daughter to clap lately, but she just looks at me with that, “what are you doing, insane woman”  face , and I’m guessing she had been studying what I was doing.  However, today when everyone was clapping for her amazing feats, she realized oh THAT’S what clapping is for!  She was so amazed that she decided that for the first time, she was going to clap.  I was so shocked!  For some reason, I think she’s a littIMG_1078le show off, and likes to do new things, especially for adoring eyes.  What a ham!

Anyway, I’m proud of my little munchkin, being a little over 7 months, she’s doing well in health, and development, and I couldn’t be happier.  I’m glad that I was able to hunt down the flowers my Mother-in-Law wanted so badly, and oh, we finally got the house in tip top condition and it’s NEVER looked better!

Today has been a good day.  What about you?  Would you like to toot your own horn?  Know someone that needs to toot?   lol, well, you know what I mean.  I’d love to hear your stories of accomplishment and self-praise.  Lay it on, and give yourself the recognition you deserve.

Cheers!
