Breast to Bottle

March 05, 2010 By: Halemom Category: Baby!, Miscellaneous, Poetry

Oh little baby, it has been so long that we have been attached
from part of me and daddy, you were hatched.
For many months I provided your full nutrition
but for giving up I feel the need for contrition.

But now little baby, from the breast you occasionally drink,
certainly not nearly as much as some would think.
Now you’re becoming such a big girl
and eating your food from a bowl.

Now that you’re almost a year
there is one thing that I certainly fear.
That you will no longer need mommy for comfort
–it’s just an area I don’t need to come up short.

Our ups and downs keep me on my feet,
but your growth, I can not cheat.
Your light brightens my day
so I never lose my way.

From breast to bottle we have come
even though it’s a battle none has won.
I still cherish our time together
but it’s different now whether

you eat with your hand
or you eat while you stand.
From the breast to the bottle
and even though I’d like to coddle
you,
I must let you grow to your full potential,
so I’ll respect the sequential
Even I’m still learning about all of this,
so I’ll just give you a big hug, smile, and kiss.

Mounting

March 03, 2010 By: Halemom Category: Poetry

Mounting dishes

Mounting laundry

Mounting work

Mounting pressure

Mounting fears

Mounting guilt

Never so many wishes

In such a quandry

Never felt like such a jerk

Need to have a refresher

of how from these tears

confidence was built.

baby hand and parent armIt doesn’t matter how much I feel I’ve conquered and won,

in this battle that’s motherhood, there’s always tons to get done.

Resolve

January 01, 2010 By: Halemom Category: Events, Health, Miscellaneous, Nutrition, Poetry

A whole year has come and gone

and it’s time to be resolve

to change my wicked ways

and be a better me than I have ever been.

I resolve to be more organized

and go down a dress size

or two.

I resolve to plan ahead more often

to have dinner ready on time too.

I have many more things to change

for I am not a perfect person

But if I don’t make it all year long,

promise not to judge me.

I know you have resolves as well

and I promise the new year will be better

for it’s a new decade with many hopes

and dreams to be fulfilled.

But just remember to be gentle

on yourself, but just don’t settle

to give up.  Just strive for your goal

to resolve to be a person that will grow.

Wishful Wednesday

December 09, 2009 By: Halemom Category: Poetry

I wish that I had more hours in the day,

and wish I had just one more hand.

And I wish for another way

for me to be able to stand

the hours I hardly sleep.

I wish the laundry would disappear

and a neat house I could keep.

For one thing that is clear

is that no matter my mommy wish

and the midnight hour is near,

I still live in family bliss.

Frumpy Freezing Friday

December 04, 2009 By: Halemom Category: Poetry

It’s terribly cold outside

thank goodness I’m inside

in my pajamas, of course

my hair’s a mess,

and I must confess

that I don’t feel like cleaning

as the water is steaming

for just one cup of tea.

That’s how this day will be.

How wonderful it is

to see the leaves blow

and be the one to know

that when the weather is freezing

and the wind is steadily breezing

that I’m inside frumpy as can be.

It’ll be our secret to say

I’m frumpy on this freezing Friday.
