Toot Your Own Horn Tuesday

by Erica on December 22, 2009

Yep, it’s another Tuesday.  What have you done c lately, or this passed week that has made you especially proud of yourself?  Maybe just something you did you’d like to get some recognition for.

My toot for this week has to do with my Mother-in-Law’s birthday that happened to be today.  Happy Birthday, Ganny!

IMG_1090Being her 60th birthday, she decided it would be proper to hunt down 60 YELLOW long stem roses.  Well, not being an easy feat, since there aren’t many florists that carry too many roses of a specific color, due to them dying and wilting if they are not consumed quickly.

On our way to a late birthday lunch, we come a cross a florist, that I had never seen before and found a great deal on dozen roses.  A way better deal than can be found at most retail stores, and in the color we needed.  Granted, they didn’t have all 5 dozen, but they came pretty close.

We decided that we would start her on her first dozen.  She was so excited and we all had a wonderful meal at a local Vietnamese restaurant.

Also, in other toots for the day, my daughter has decided in the last few days that she is ready to stand on her own (without hands) and can now do it for roughly 15 seconds.  To show of to her grandparents today, she also decided she could not only stand on her own, but that she could accomplish the balancing act and even turn around to look at her ganny.

I’ve also been trying to get my daughter to clap lately, but she just looks at me with that, “what are you doing, insane woman”  face , and I’m guessing she had been studying what I was doing.  However, today when everyone was clapping for her amazing feats, she realized oh THAT’S what clapping is for!  She was so amazed that she decided that for the first time, she was going to clap.  I was so shocked!  For some reason, I think she’s a littIMG_1078le show off, and likes to do new things, especially for adoring eyes.  What a ham!

Anyway, I’m proud of my little munchkin, being a little over 7 months, she’s doing well in health, and development, and I couldn’t be happier.  I’m glad that I was able to hunt down the flowers my Mother-in-Law wanted so badly, and oh, we finally got the house in tip top condition and it’s NEVER looked better!

Today has been a good day.  What about you?  Would you like to toot your own horn?  Know someone that needs to toot?   lol, well, you know what I mean.  I’d love to hear your stories of accomplishment and self-praise.  Lay it on, and give yourself the recognition you deserve.

Cheers!

There’s been a lot of tooting going on around here lately, thaks to a stomach bug, but I don’t think it’s the kind of tooting you are talking about. On another note, I think is is fantastic that your little munchkin learned to clap! I remember the first time my baby clapped, it was to some live music at a holy day celebration. He was so excited that everyone was singing and clapping and he just joined right in. I was so proud! Have a great day and Merry Christmas! organicmotherhoodwithcoolwhip.com
