According to a recent article in the health section at usnews, there are two studies that claim drinking coffee and exercise can help prevent prostate cancer. Although there does appear to be a link, it doesn’t mean to start chugging gallons of coffee and running yourself into oblivion.
The article does denote, however, that the increase in coffee intake does have an effect on a decrease in prostate cancer. The interesting part is as follows:
The caffeine in coffee doesn’t seem to be the link, since the same reduction was seen for consumption of decaffeinated coffee, she said. Instead, “it has something to do with insulin and glucose metabolism,” Wilson said. “A number of studies have found that coffee is [also] associated with a reduced risk of diabetes.”
Mommies, now you have a reason to wake up and make dad that cup of coffee or two, and be sure to wake him up extra early to go get a jog in before his day starts. It’s actually very refreshing to work out in the morning, and something me and my husband need to start doing together so we can motivate each other daily. Since I had the baby, we haven’t gotten a whole lot of physical activity going on, and so now that things have settled down, I’m ready to start kicking daddy in the butt…for his health, of course!
Decaf or caffeinated, brew it up, then get to moving, daddy ! After all, we love you and want to be around for MANY years!
