Hale Holiday Habits: Don't Forget About Mommy

by Erica on November 29, 2009

With Christmas creeping around the corner, and as things get more and more hectic, one thing not to forget is Mommy.  Everyone, especially busy moms, need to go the extra mile to pamper themselves every now and then.  It really is important to take care of yourself in order to care of others.

Have a mom’s lunch out.  Get together with your friends and relax and have more than just children chat while dining.  If a babysitter is lacking or money tight, take turns hosting the mom lunch and consider asking older siblings to help keep an eye on the little ones.

If your children still nap, then don’t be afraid to use that time to take a nap yourself, or even all the time if you need it and can get away with it.  With the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it may be the few minutes you need to get refreshed and back into the planning and shopping with a renewed perspective.

With holidays rolling around, it’s more important than ever to take care of yourself in terms of self perception.  Your hair and nails make a big difference on how you perceive yourself, and will also be seen many times as many get togethers and parties are attended.  Go get a new hair do, hair color, or even just a mani and pedi.  On the occasions when you’re going for a hair appointment or a mani/pedi make sure dad is able to be at home to watch the kids so you can really enjoy the pampering, without extraneous worrying.

Most importantly, during the holidays it can be easy to forget about mommy AND daddy, so be sure to trade babysitting with a friend or relative in order to give you each a night out with your honey.

Once the kids are in bed,  every once in a while, forget the night time chores and take a long hot bath or ask your hubby trade massages.  You can even toss in some homemade bath salts, or massage oils.  Peppermint is a great massage scent, and can help you with your holiday mood *wink!*

Go ahead and pamper yourself this holiday season, you’ll be a better mom for it, and you deserve it!

Surely there are many more ways to pamper yourself, so I’d love to hear the ways you treat yourself, especially during the holidays.

To your holiday health and sanity!
