Since humans stay indoors more and more as our lives have gravitated around what we call the internet, there seems to be an increase in illness and diseases. There may be a better explanation for why we have such an intrigue with nature, and with the green movement, our natural environment is becoming a bigger concern to preserve and understand. Nature (trees, flowers, air, water, etc) is an important part of the life cycle, and is pivotal in keeping the life cycle going.
According to this article, there has been research lately that finds that the closer a person lives to nature, the healthier those people tend to be. An interesting thought, and one that certainly speaks volumes for how people are affected just by being near, or away from their natural environment. It appears that sun light may play a big role in that equation as vitamin D, a nutrient that is produced by the body, has been found to provide many benefits, and conversely a deficiency can lead to many ailments such as rickets.
I find that when I spend more time outside rather than indoors, I feel healthier, less tired, more creative, and I drag less. What do you do on days that you spend time outside with the kids?
